Play and Sport Surfaces is a WeDo Property Services service. We surface playgrounds, courts, pitches and paths for schools, councils, clubs, leisure sites, care homes, developers and homeowners across the UK. One named person, Alex Winser, runs every project on the ground from the survey to handover, and the surfacing teams carry out the work on site.

Who we are

One team quotes, runs and signs off your job, with no layers in between. Sam and Alex have known each other for 25 years: Sam checks the scope, the price and the paperwork, and Alex runs the work on the ground from the first visit to handover.

Sam Guest

Sam Guest

Compliance and client lead

Sam has spent around ten years in building compliance and energy assessment. For seven years he ran a building compliance consultancy whose clients included McLaren, Tesco, Camden Market, Chelsea Football Club, the Post Office, the Ministry of Defence, CBRE and Savills. He now runs SustainPlan, a UK compliance consultancy, and is an Elmhurst-accredited energy assessor. On every job he checks the scope, the price and the paperwork, so the work is done right and signed off first time.

Company details

Play and Sport Surfaces is run by WeDo Property Services Ltd, registered in England and Wales, company number 15275329. 15B Battersea Square, London SW11 3RA.

Who is behind Play and Sport Surfaces?

WeDo Property Services Ltd, registered in England and Wales, company number 15275329, registered office 15B Battersea Square, London SW11 3RA. Enquiries made on this site are received and managed for us by SustainPlan Ltd, which runs our enquiry handling. WeDo was founded by Alex Winser, who runs the work on the ground, and its main work is cleaning, renovation, exterior and property services, which you can see on the WeDo Property Services website.

The surfacing side has its own name because buyers look for the surface, not the company behind it. Sam Guest runs operations and compliance, and Alex runs the jobs on the ground.

Who is Alex Winser?

Alex has 15 years’ experience in the industry. Originally from Bristol, where his career began, he moved to London and built WeDo Property Services. Day to day he runs his own teams and project manages whole jobs hands-on.

His clients are agents, landlords, property managers and businesses, and they often need the work done yesterday. That is why he stays the single point of contact on every job and puts his effort into getting it moving quickly. On a surfacing project that matters most when the work has to fit a school holiday or the gap between seasons.

How does a surfacing job run?

In seven stages, with Alex as your contact at each one:

  1. Enquiry. We read your brief, plans and photos and ask for anything missing.
  2. Survey. The site is checked for levels, drainage, access for plant and deliveries, and, on play areas, the fall height of each piece of equipment.
  3. Written quote. You get a defined scope with an itemised price, VAT on its own line, and planning or reports shown separately if the job needs them.
  4. Programme. A structured programme is agreed before work starts, fitted around term dates, opening hours or the playing season.
  5. Installation. The surfacing teams lay the surface. Fencing, drainage and lighting are handled by vetted trades on the same fixed written price, so you deal with one contractor.
  6. Checks and handover. Alex checks the finished work before sign-off. Safety surfaces are handed over with the test details for the product and depth laid, plus care guidance.
  7. Feedback. Alex asks for your review, so the next buyer can see how the job went.

Who lays the surface?

Our own surfacing teams, run hands-on by Alex. Wetpour, rubber mulch, macadam, acrylic courts, artificial pitches, resin and markings are different crafts, so each job goes to the team that lays that surface. Before you sign, you receive the installing team’s accreditations and insurance details in writing, and no trade body is named on this site until it is confirmed.

Which buyers do we work with?

Any organisation or household that hires its own contractor and wants a single accountable person. WeDo Property Services already works for estate agents, property managers, developers, retail, hospitality, automotive businesses and the public sector. On this site that extends to schools and academies, councils and parish councils, sports clubs, leisure and holiday parks, care homes and homeowners.

How do we set the prices on this site?

From published, dated sources until the installers’ own rates are added. Each price on this site names where it comes from: Sport England’s Facility Cost Guidance, the LTA, real contractor quotes in council papers, or installers’ published price lists. Prices are before VAT unless the page says the source does not state it, as with the LTA’s averages. Your own price is confirmed in writing after a survey. Where only one source gives a figure, the page says so.

Reviews

We only show reviews of the work this site offers, so none from other jobs appear here. Surfacing reviews will be added as jobs finish: after each job we ask the customer to review it, naming the service and the area.

What will you not find on this site?

Made-up reviews, invented jobs, stock photos passed off as our work, or prices without a source. Case studies appear only when a job is finished, with the place, scope, price band and photos.
