We mark and reline tennis, netball, basketball, five-a-side and MUGA courts for clubs, schools, parish councils and private court owners across the UK, and line car parks on the same visit. Recent council quotes put court lines at £600 per sport and a full MUGA reline at £1,250, excluding VAT. Most relines take a day or two of dry weather. Send photos of the court and the sports you need, and we send a written quote.
Line marking is a small cost next to resurfacing, which is why clubs reline on a cycle rather than waiting for a rebuild.

How much does it cost to line a tennis, netball or MUGA court?
Budget about £600 for each sport’s lines on an existing court, the figure one contractor quoted a parish council in January 2025. A second contractor quoted £1,250 to reline the whole multi-sport court after resurfacing. A single tennis court is usually one set of lines, so it sits near the lower figure; four sports on one MUGA cost more because each set takes its own measuring and masking.
Which sports can share one court?
Most MUGAs carry three to five sets of lines without confusion if each sport has its own colour. Tennis and netball sit well together on a court of the right size, and basketball circles and five-a-side boxes can be overlaid. Decide which sport is the main one and give it the boldest colour, then keep secondary lines thinner or in a quieter shade.
If you are building or rebuilding the court itself, our MUGA pitch page covers size and surface choice, and outdoor basketball court surfaces covers single-sport and half courts.
How it works
- 01Send a plan and photosThe site, the surface and the date it must reopen.

Which paint suits macadam, acrylic and polymeric courts?
Use the line paint the surface maker specifies. Macadam, acrylic-coated and polymeric rubber surfaces each take different coatings, and the wrong one can peel, stay slippery or block a porous surface’s drainage. The team checks the existing surface and names the paint system on the quote.
How often do lines need repainting?
For a porous macadam tennis court, the LTA says to repaint every 5 years and resurface every 8 to 10 years. Lines on a busy school MUGA may fade sooner where feet turn and stop. Repainting before the lines disappear completely is quicker, because the old set-out can be followed.
Can you reline after a resurface or a deep clean?
Yes, and that is the best time. A clean, dry surface takes paint well, and resurfacing wipes out the old lines anyway. If the court is due for resurfacing, check tennis court resurfacing cost and ask for the lines on the same quote; if it only needs a clean, see MUGA resurfacing for the maintenance options.
Can you line our car park at the same time?
Yes. Wickham Parish Council’s 2025 quotes for about 37 bays ran from £625 to £1,270 before VAT. Doing courts and car park on one visit saves a second mobilisation. Resurfacing the car park first is covered on car park surfacing.
Do new lines need dry weather?
Yes. Line paint needs a clean, dry surface and air temperatures the maker approves, so most relining is done from spring to early autumn. Book a window with a spare day.

Illustrative example
From the table only. A parish MUGA needs tennis, netball and five-a-side lines repainted, and the car park beside it relined. Three sports at £600 each is £1,800; the car park adds £625 to £1,270. Before VAT, the visit totals about £2,425 to £3,070.
Who does the work
Play and Sport Surfaces is a WeDo Property Services service. Alex Winser books the visit around your fixtures, and the installers set out and paint the lines, with Alex checking the finished court before sign-off.
Often needed alongside
New courts start on tennis court construction. Schools combining court lines with games on the yard can add school playground markings. Every price is on playground surfacing cost.
FAQs
Can you change our court layout?
Yes. Old lines can be blacked out or removed and new ones set out; ask for both on the quote.
Do you mark indoor courts?
This site covers outdoor courts.
Can you add a second sport to a tennis court?
Usually, if the court is big enough. Send its measurements.
Do the lines need to dry before play?
Yes; the quote states how long before the court can reopen.
What do you need to quote court lines?
Photos of the court, its rough size, the surface type and the sports you want.
