We install non-turf cricket pitches, practice net bays and replacement artificial wickets for cricket clubs, schools, colleges and councils across the UK. Sport England’s Q4 2025 benchmarks put a match pitch on a macadam base at £25,000 and a one-bay practice cage at £40,000, excluding VAT, and a 2025 council paper shows a wicket replacement on a sound base at under £10,000. Most installs are booked after the season ends. Send photos and your plan, and we send a written quote.
A replacement carpet on a sound base costs about a third of a new pitch built from scratch.

How much does an artificial cricket wicket cost?
A new non-turf match pitch on a macadam base is £25,000 before VAT on Sport England’s Q4 2025 benchmark, which includes fees for project management, site investigation and planning. Replacing a worn carpet on a sound existing base is far cheaper: Wareham Town Council’s April 2025 report shows two quotes of £8,672 and £9,403 for a complete new wicket over the existing concrete. The same report gives replacement wickets a life of 10 to 12 years.
What does a hybrid cricket pitch cost?
We price hybrid pitches on survey, because no official or council figure is published for them. A hybrid mixes natural grass with synthetic fibres, so the price depends on the square, the grass and the stitching or carpet system. Tell us how many pitches on the square you want to convert.

Non-turf pitch or hybrid: which suits a club?
Choose a non-turf pitch for practice, junior cricket and lower-level matches where low upkeep matters; consider a hybrid on the main square where you want a natural surface that wears better. Many clubs run both. Check what your league allows for match play before you buy.
Which non-turf systems are approved by the ECB?
The ECB publishes performance standards for outdoor non-turf pitches, covering practice areas and match pitches, and a list of approved systems and suppliers. It also runs a voluntary code of practice setting minimum standards for designers, installers and suppliers. Ask for the system on your quote to be on the ECB’s current approved list; questions about the list go to facilities@ecb.co.uk.
The ECB states there are currently no set standards for outfields.
How much do cricket nets cost to install?
A one-bay practice cage on a macadam base is £40,000 before VAT on Sport England’s benchmark. Multi-bay nets are priced on survey, because Sport England gives a figure for one bay only. Netting replacement on an existing cage is a separate, smaller job.
When is the best time to install?
After the season. Wareham’s report recommended installing once the current season had ended, so the new wicket is ready for the next one. Tell us your fixture calendar when you enquire.
What funding is there for clubs?
Club projects are usually funded from club reserves, council support and grants. For smaller community schemes, Sport England’s Movement Fund gives £300 to £15,000, matched by money the club raises itself. Our playground grants guide lists the main funders and what each will not pay for; check with the ECB and your county board for cricket-specific schemes.

Illustrative example
From the table only. A club wants a new non-turf match pitch and a one-bay practice cage on macadam bases. On Sport England’s benchmarks that is £25,000 plus £40,000, or £65,000 before VAT. If the club already has a sound concrete base and only needs a new carpet, a single replacement wicket came to £8,672 to £9,403 in Wareham’s 2025 quotes.
Who does the work
This site is a WeDo Property Services service. Alex Winser runs your cricket project from survey to handover, and the installers lay the base and carpet and fit the net cages.
Often needed alongside
Clubs sharing grounds with football or hockey often add 3G football pitch construction for winter use. How club projects are planned and funded is covered on sports clubs.
