Enter the size of your path or area, what it is used for and what is there now, then pick resin bound or bonded and a colour blend. The designer shows a price band from published figures, from about £60 to £100 per m2 for a commercial resin bound surface and from about £35 per m2 for resin bonded, plus VAT. Once you send it, Alex Winser books a site visit and follows with a written quote, wherever the site is in the UK.
How does the resin designer work?
Six quick choices, then your band:
- Area: square metres, or a length and width.
- Use: a footpath, school entrance, public space, tree pit, care home or hotel grounds, or a garden path.
- What is there now: sound tarmac or concrete, cracked tarmac, block paving, or gravel, soil or grass.
- System: resin bound, resin bonded, or “help me choose”.
- Resin: standard or UV-stable.
- Colour blend: a set of natural stone blends, shown as swatches on a sample of your area.
The price band appears straight away, with the source of every figure under it.
Which prices does the designer use?
Published figures only, dated and named. For commercial resin bound it uses Abacus’s £60 to £100 per m2 for a SUDS-compliant bound surface. For garden paths it uses consumer price guides from 2026: £50 to £70 per m2 over a sound base, £70 to £90 with a new permeable sub-base, and £90 to £130 for UV-stable resin. For resin bonded it uses three guides that together run from £35 to £75 per m2, and shows one installer’s higher overlay figure of £80 to £120 beside them, because the published figures disagree. When the installers’ own rates are added, they replace these figures and the source line changes to say so.

Bound or bonded: which should I choose?
Bound for smooth, step-free paths that drain; bonded for grip on slopes and a lower price on a sealed base. If you are not sure, choose “help me choose” and the designer shows both bands side by side. Our guide to resin bound vs resin bonded sets out the differences in full.
What changes the price most?
The base and the size of the area. A resin bound surface over a sound existing base sits at the lower end of the bands; one that needs a new permeable sub-base costs more. Small areas cost more per m2, because set-up, mixing and edging do not shrink with the area; the 2021 Cuckfield footpath, only 21 m2, came to about £154 per m2 in resin bound. The colour blend does not change the band in the designer; if your chosen blend changes the price, the written quote shows it as its own line.
Can it price a driveway?
Not on this site. Driveways are a homeowner job with their own prices and planning points, and we handle them separately. If you choose “driveway”, the designer still sends your details, and we reply with a driveway quote route. For paths and garden routes, see resin garden path costs.
What happens once my resin design is sent?
We read it, check anything missing, and arrange a survey to confirm the base, the levels and the drainage. The written quote that follows is itemised and shows VAT separately. The blend you picked and your measurements travel with the enquiry, so the quote starts from your design.
What if the resin designer does not open?
