Play and Sport Surfaces surfaces play areas, multi-sport courts, tennis courts and footpaths for holiday parks, hotels, campsites and leisure centres across the UK. Wetpour under play equipment runs from about £40 to £140 per m2, a new fenced, floodlit MUGA is benchmarked at £190,000, and resin bound paths have been quoted at about £154 per m2, all excluding VAT. We schedule the work for your quiet season so guests never see a closed play area at peak time.
Commercial operators fund these projects themselves, so a clear price per facility matters more than any grant.

What do holiday parks and leisure sites usually ask us to surface?
Mostly guest play areas, MUGAs and tennis courts, then the paths that link them. Older parks tend to start with a worn play area surface that has failed an inspection; newer ones add a MUGA or a court to lift their offer for families and groups.
See MUGA pitch construction, play area design and tennis court construction for each facility’s full detail.
Can a commercial operator get grant funding?
Rarely, so budget without it. The Football Foundation will not fund projects for private gain or facilities closed to the community, and the LTA’s loans exclude companies limited by shares. A leisure trust or charity running a community centre is in a different position and should check the guide to funding sports and play surfaces.
How it works
- 01Send a plan and photosThe site, the surface and the date it must reopen.
- 02We check the groundLevels and where the water drains.
- 03Written quoteBuilt around your reopening date.
When can the work be done without upsetting guests?
In your closed or quiet season. Tell us your opening dates when you enquire, and the programme is set around them, with the working area fenced off and deliveries kept away from guest routes. Small repairs, such as a wetpour patch, can be fitted into a midweek gap even in season.
Which play surface suits a busy holiday park?
The one that matches your equipment’s fall height and your budget for upkeep. Wetpour is seamless and can be patched in small areas: one town council paid £120 for a patch by its swings. Bonded rubber mulch has a natural look that suits woodland and rural parks. Artificial grass suits lower equipment and picnic lawns. The comparison of wetpour, rubber mulch and artificial grass sets prices and fall heights side by side.
What inspections do guest play areas need?
The same as any public playground. RoSPA’s guidance is a routine check at least weekly by your own staff, recorded, and an annual inspection by a specialist with no connection to the operator. Insurers and guests both expect to see the annual report. Playground inspections explains what each check costs.
Should a park add padel or a tennis court?
It depends on your guests. A tennis court suits families and older guests; padel is often chosen by operators chasing groups and bookings. Our sister site covers padel courts for hotels and holiday parks, so the two can be priced side by side.
Can you resurface the paths between facilities too?
Yes. Resin bound paths, porous macadam and tarmac all suit park routes, and a resin bound path quoted to Cuckfield Parish Council came to about £154 per m2. Resin bound surfacing covers permeability and wear.

Illustrative example
Drawn only from the figures in the table, and not a real park. A holiday park plans one closed season: a new wetpour surface of about 100 m2 under its play frame and a pressure clean with moss treatment on two tennis courts. The wetpour budget is about £4,000 to £14,000, and the court clean about £1,000 at the LTA’s indicative £150 and £350 per court, so the season’s budget starts at roughly £5,000 to £15,000 excluding VAT.
Who does the work
Play and Sport Surfaces is a WeDo Property Services service. Alex Winser runs your park’s project from the first visit to handover, working to your season and site rules, and the surfacing teams do the work.
FAQs
Can you work across several parks in a group?
Yes, each site gets its own quote and programme.
Do you install play equipment we buy?
Yes, and we surface under it. See playground equipment installation.
Can work be done at night?
Ask when you enquire. Most surfacing needs daylight and dry weather.
Will a new court need planning permission?
Often, if it has fencing or lights. Check your council’s rules early.
Do you clean courts as well as build them?
Yes. See tennis court cleaning.
